Cargo Ship Information

Main Post:

So I’ve just come back to rust and tried to counter cargo with a rhib and got rolled by the team already on it. I’ve got a bunch of questions about cargo and I’ve been trying to find tips on getting onto cargo. What are the time periods between each cargo? Is the cargo ship’s spawn point predictable in anyway? What are the best ways to get cargo ship loot besides getting lucky and getting on deck without getting shit on while you’re climbing up? Really appreciate it if some cargo veterans could help me out.

Top Comment: Cargo is one of my fav things to do, so I’ll offer my techniques. First off, your best chance at success is to be the first one on board. If you can’t be the first, you still have to get there early, before the people who beat you there can clear the scientists and concentrate fully on defending. If you’re the first there, using a boat of some kind is the cheapest way. I like to drive up behind the ship, and cut inside as it makes a turn. The goal here is to close the final stretch quickly and to put shit between you and the scientists. If you can keep the smoke stack at the very back between you and the scientist on top of the bridge, on the side opposite your approach, you should only have one scientist shooting at you, which is easily survivable even as a solo. Once on board, start clearing. How you do that is up to you, but i recommend taking out the 2 at the top of the bridge and the 1 at the front crows nest because they can shoot at you in a lot of places on the top deck. If you aren’t the first, and you’re using a boat, the same principle applies: get in fast and expose yourself as little as you can. But it’s really hard to counter a group that’s already dug in, because they generally aim way better than the scientists and they know your only route on board is on the side. If you have to do it this way, wear armor and try to suppress them on your approach to the ship. Obviously if you’re solo, this is exceedingly difficult. The other option is to fly there, which gives you a few options but is also really difficult against scientists or players. You can just crash a helicopter onto the ship, which is pretty much a no go nowadays since they cost so much scrap. That means you have really have to have someone stay in the pilot seat, fly close enough to drop people off, fly well enough to not crash since the ship is a moving target, and survive long enough to fly away. If you’re flying to cargo, pilot needs to wear the best armor available, heavy plate if possible. If in a scrap helo, it helps to have a guy in the copilot seat who can heal the pilot and swap to the controls if the pilot gets killed. If you’re the first one there, and you can survive the scientists shooting at you, i recommend dropping people on top of the bridge or at the front. Just expect to take a few shots. Players generally tend to defend the back end of the ship, because the escape boat is back there. Groups also typically load the box in the RHIB up with stuff as well to make room for more stuff, so it’s in their interest to defend it most heavily. If it’s a large group, expect someone at the top of the bridge and/or the crows nest since they’ll see you coming a long way off and you can’t really do much to dodge their fire. The goal of flying in to counter is speed; you have to get people on board before the defenders have a chance to mass their firepower on you. Once onboard, you at least have a chance. Expect that the defenders will run to the escape boat if you’re actually succeeding, so if you can get someone aft to cover the RHIB you can prevent them from escaping with a large share of the loot. If you’re defending, i recommend posting up on the deck just above the RHIB at the back. Good cover, easy escape, and good visibility on just about all avenues of approach. Don’t be afraid to take the boat and run if you get countered, even if you haven’t been able to loot the locked crates. If you have more people, start getting them posted up on the bridge and crows nest and near the ladders. A few more miscellaneous notes: if the alarm for the ship goes off, it means it’s heading out off the map and it’s time to leave immediately, period. If you wait, you’ll start getting crazy radiation and then you’ll be hosed. If that means jumping off and swimming to shore, then you do that. a dive tank and fins aren’t a bad thing to take with you, in case You do have to jump in the water. A wetsuit will also help keep you alive if you have to jump while you’re in the snow areas of the map. If you don’t need it, great, but i like to have a Plan B. if your pilot is good and has the fuel, he can orbit the ship and help tell your guys where enemy players are at. The risk here is that he gets killed, but keep your distance and wear the armor and you can make it work for you. you can sprint to the cargo hold immediately after boarding if you don’t have good gear to take on the scientists. You only have to worry about 2 down there, and there is almost always at least 1 crate in the hold. If you want you can leave the scientists above alive and use them as a kind of alarm to let you know if players are approaching. In that event you can probably escape to the back end with the loot you have, since the players will focus on scientists. This is a solid option for solos and duos who aren’t really the best at PvP. if you have an automatic weapon, you should be able to prevent people from boarding by boat fairly easily assuming you can get to the side before they get there. They’ll be grouped up, so you can just spray at the boat in general and probably kill or wound them enough to make them break off. I’m sure everyone uses their own techniques, but these are mine. Hope it helps!

Can we please have a Cargo hold information panel!?

Main Post:

Its important for trading to see what you are shipping, but its a necessity for Mining! I need to know what kind of ore i have and how much of it, and since we are asking for stuff <_<, can we also have an option to "Jettison Cargo" like ED to throw out the cheap ore out and keep mining the more expensive ones?

Yes It would make profits go from 3k to 10k per round, but it will take an hour longer searching for more expensive ore. So it balance itself out (Profit/hour)

Top Comment: I think emptying an entire container would make sense but not dropping just the regular rocks or cheap ore. Determining what to specifically drop would be more of a task for an Orion since it has some refining.

First footage ever of suspected AFU M971 120mm Cargo Bomb in usage - Bakhmut, Info on munitions in comments with source

ADDITIONAL INFO ON OP:

Not so long ago we documented a new type of mortar ammunition with the Ukrainian army - a M971 120mm cargo bomb, which houses 24 M87 dual-purpose AT/AP submunitions in the standard version.

The M971 was originally developed and manufactured in Israel 🇮🇱.

Going by the explosion pattern, bomblet dispersion pattern and quantity, we believe that we are seeing these effective (but controversial) munitions in use.

Given submunition failures and absence of self-destructing feature for the M87 they may have unwelcome long term effects.

Who supplied them to Ukraine? That's not clear. A very limited number of countries reported possession of such mortar bombs and we tend to believe what we see was exported from a country which previously purchased these bombs from Israel.

Cargo Van Delivery Info

Main Post:

Hi all,

I'm looking into the Cargo Van business. How would one see a dashboard of available routes someone can bid on, or a history of the bids that won, or does a tool like this even exist??? Anyone have an estimate on average payouts?

Based out of ATL, so hoping to get my ducks in a row, and do cargo van deliveries to Miami, Charlotte, etc.

Thanks for any help. I find websites, but because I just a spectator, I never get to see the bids.

Top Comment: Sylectus and DAT are where we post our loads. Keep in mind a lot of 3pls and companies won’t use you for your first 60-120 days after getting licensed to avoid risk. Most 300-700 mile runs pay around $1 a mile. Sometimes you can make more, but it’s usually easy for me to cover a load for $1 a mile plus $50 for dispatch/company fees. If you have a clean record, look into getting TSA certified to deliver to airports and such. More of a pain in the butt, but pays better and if you offer great service you can find people that offer you more consistent work for expedited loads. I’d also get a long bed van that holds three pallets and is at least 50” wide inside if possible. Allows you to take almost all sprinter/cargo van loads. It isn’t a way to make a ton of money, but you can make good money and spend your time driving if you like that. If you’re able to do basic maintenance yourself, it helps a ton

Looking for info regarding Utility/Cargo Boxes for EZGO Carts

Main Post:

I've got an EZ-GO RXV cart and am looking to install a Cargo Box on the back instead of a seat kit. Looking to find out if anyone has installed a Cargo box on their RXV and what their experience has been with regards to how sturdy/usable these are and what kind of weight you've had in the box and how the cargo box held up. Let me know if your box is made out of Aluminum Diamond Plate, thermoplastic, or steel also please.

Thanks

Lil WIley

Top Comment: I work at a shop and we deal with cargo carts all the time. The plastic utility beds can hold a couple hundred pounds, as can the steel boxes and they both hold up well. The only cons- plastic is chemical resistant, but can warp and crack over time due to the elements. Steel boxes will eventually rust, and are not as resistant to chemicals, especially pool chemicals and fertilizers.

2023 Trailblazer Cargo Cover Info?

Main Post:

I'm trying to find a good video/photos of the Cargo Cover option for a '23 TB. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Top Comment:

I saw it today at the dealership. It's a flimsy, lightweight mesh piece that you could hold in one hand. It fits in the grooves built into the car. A pet could not sit on it since it would not hold the weight of anything put on it. It's similar to the item you might use in the windshield and can fold up in the same manner. Certainly not worth $195.

Kia EV9 Cargo Space Info and Measurements

Main Post: Kia EV9 Cargo Space Info and Measurements

Top Comment: Question for you: exactly how wide is the opening? I’m an artist and I need to haul large canvases often. I don’t mind if they are tilted diagonally (not flat on the floor) but I do need to know the exact width of the door opening. Would be so grateful if you could measure that. Helpful video!

Advice, experiences, and resources for info with pet travel AirNZ

Main Post:

I am immigrating soon to Aotearoa New Zealand, and I've done all due diligence I can think of to have questions answered, but there is a HUGE part of my move I truly fear and I've tried every way to find information and resourses; my pets.

I am already contracted with an approved pet transport company (the list is limited), but I cannot get answers from AirNZ, nor them as to every step other than a checklist. I am moving as just myself plus my beloved pets. Every response is a company line along "AirNZ does everything to ensure the safety of our pet cargo and keep in pressurised and climate-controlled cabin similar to yours". I do want to bring my very beloved [indoor only] kitties with me, and I know all travel comes with risk, but I'd never be so selfish that I'd put them at as high a risk as it seems when I cannot find a straight answer.

  • Do any of you have experience moving pets [fur-babies] via AirNZ from U.S or other countries requiring similar protocols (all of Europe, Asia, Africa, and Americas)? And what was your experience?
  • For Kiwis (maybe I'm dealing with firewalls), can you find statistics for numbers of pets transported internationally by AirNZ and how many deaths per year--especially due to negligence like left on tarmac or cabin not pressurized?
  • Anyone who moved from U.S. or Canada, which transport did you use (they use the same)? Any advice or "wish I had"?
  • is the Auckland Quarantine facility as awesome as it is made to sound? Any ancedotes of good, bad, average?
  • For AirNZ, what do they actually mean by "a separate pressurised climate-controled cabin" and is it?! I cannot find if pets are actually really somewhere separate from luggage that may fly loose during transit or some shelf.

Sorry if I sound like a freak, but this is the part of move that stresses me most; I'm making a HUGE decision for living creatures who aren't given a choice, while this is mine.

Any advice is appreciated.

Edit:

FYI: The kitties are already indoor-only in the much more dangerous U.S. (predators, diseases, etc.), and with risk of THEM to environment there, I'd prefer to keep them from killing a fan-tail or other parts of the delicate ecosystem there, and they're used to it already.

Top Comment: Percy, my Italian greyhound, moved countries with me via Air NZ, including to Rarotonga and Australia before coming back to NZ, and he, both of my younger iggies, and my cat have flown domestically. They have been just fine. I'm sure they didn't enjoy the experience, but it didn't seem to cause any ongoing trauma. I would do so again if it became necessary. It's not entirely risk-free, but very little in life is. Edit: one very important safety note is don't sedate your pet in any way before flying, but I imagine pet carriers will tell you that.
